
How To Qualify

Age
All property owners must be 65 years or older, with an exception for spouses or siblings who co-own the property. In such cases, only one owner needs to meet the age requirement.

Income
To be eligible, the combined annual income of the property owner and spouse or co-owner must not exceed $58,399. This includes various sources of income such as Social Security, retirement benefits, interest, dividends, and more.

Ownership And Residency
You must have owned the property for a continuous period of at least 12 months prior to applying for the exemption. Exceptions apply if you previously received this exemption on another property you owned.​
The property must be your primary residence, except in cases of divorce, legal separation, or abandonment. Owners in residential health care facilities might also qualify under specific circumstances.

What Is Needed To Process Your Property Tax Reduction

Proof of age
Submit a copy of government issued ID such as a drivers license, passport, birth certificate.

Proof of income
Please submit proof of income for the calendar year immediately preceding the date you're filing this application. You must include income from all property owners and their spouses, and all of the documentation you submit must be from the same tax year.

You may submit a copy of your federal tax return to verify your income. If you did not file federal income tax, you must provide documentation for all sources of income for all owners and their spouses. Examples include state income tax returns, pensions, unemployment compensation, 1099 income(including social Security disbursements), annuities, workers compensation, alimony and rental income

Proof of Reimbursed Medical Expenses
You can deduct paid, unreimbursed medical and prescriotion expenses from your total combined income. These expenses must have been incurred in the same tax year your income verification documents you are submitting .Submit a copy of your 1040 Schedule A federal tax form, or copies of canceled orders, cash receipts, or documents from a healthcare facility to verify your paid, unreimbursed medical expenses.
